The Energetics Technology Center, Inc. (ETC) is seeking a full-time mid-Level Network Engineer with the listed qualifications. This position is not remote-work eligible, and candidate will be required to be on-site during regular work hours. This job requires candidates to occasionally work outdoors in potentially adverse terrain and weather conditions.  Additionally, this position may require travel 2-3 times a year for a duration of up to two weeks. As a mid-level Network Engineer, you will perform the following duties for our Department of Defense client in Middle River, MD:

  • Work independently and/or with a small team to support Juniper and Cisco wired and wireless network infrastructure at the operations site.
  • Gather requirements, design network infrastructure solutions, and present findings to colleagues and management.  
  • Coordinate with researchers to enable successful robotic platform operation, communication, and experimentation in a fielded environment.
  • Identify, implement, and assess system and network security controls using DISA STIG’s or CIS benchmarks. 
  • Assist in controlling high bandwidth data transfer and live analytics modeling systems. 
  • Develop operating policies, standard operating procedures, user guides, networking architecture diagrams, and usage reports of the network. 
  • Implement and support network monitoring systems using technologies like SNMP, NetFlow, and syslog for monitoring and analysis.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelors or higher in Computer Information Systems, Systems Administrator, Network Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline.

EXPERIENCE LEVEL: 2-5 Years

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Have or ability to obtain DoD 8570 IAT II – minimum CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent within 3 months of the start date. 
  • Cisco CCNA certification
  • Currently possesses or ability to obtain a U.S. SECRET security clearance. 
  • Foundational knowledge of networking and networked systems, networking protocols, and network security standards (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLAN’s, network interfaces, network segmentation, network traffic analysis, and troubleshooting). 
  • Experience with network device CLI (Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, etc).
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to present recommendations and reports clearly and accurately to peers, colleagues, and leadership. 

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Interest in operating autonomous vehicles and platforms.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems (Ubuntu and/or RHEL derivatives).
  • Familiarity with system and network automation (Puppet / Ansible). 
  • Experience with implementing and assessing DISA STIG’s. 
  • Familiarity with security control assessment tools (SCAP Compliance Checker /  OpenSCAP / Eval_STIG). 
  • Experience with mesh networking technologies (Wi-Fi mesh / tactical mesh radio networks). 
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting RF interference and performance issues.
